1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away; and there was no more sea. 2And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a great voice from the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall live among them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, or sorrow, or crying, or pain: for the former things have passed away. 5And he who sits upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write: for these words are faithful and true. 6And he said to me, It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him who is thirsty, without cost, from the spring of the water of life. 7He who overcomes shall inherit all these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and the vile, and murderers, and the sexually immoral, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur: which is the second death. 9And there came to me one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and spoke to me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. 10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11Having the glory of God: and her radiance was like a stone most precious, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12It had a great and high wall, and twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13On the east were three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15And he who spoke to me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, and its gates, and its wall. 16And the city was laid out in a square, its length equal to its breadth: and he measured the city with the rod, twelve thousand stadia. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17And he measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits, according to man's measurement, which the angel was using. 18And the wall was made of jasper: and the city of pure gold, like clear glass. 19And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each gate made of a single pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 22And I saw no temple in it: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23And the city had no need of the sun, or the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God is its light, and the Lamb its lamp. 24And the nations shall walk by its light: and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it. 25And its gates shall never be shut by day: and there shall be no night there. 26And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27But nothing impure shall enter into it, nor shall any man who commits shameful acts, or who lies: but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
