1Judge not, that you may not be judged. 2For in the manner you judge, you shall be judged: and with the measure you use, it shall be measured to you. 3And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye? 4Or how can you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first remove the beam from your own eye; and then you shall see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. 6Do not give that which is holy to dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. 7Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: 8For every one who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it shall be opened. 9Or what man is there among you, whom, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? 12Therefore, all things that you would have men do for you, do for them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13Enter in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there are who enter in by it: 14But small is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few there are who find it. 15Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 17Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a bad tree brings forth bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. 20Therefore, by their fruits you shall know them. 21Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name cast out devils? and in your name done many miracles? 23And then I will declare to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you who work iniquity. 24Therefore, whoever hears these words of mine, and does them, will be like a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: 25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: for it was founded upon a rock. 26And every one who hears these words of mine, and does not do them, is like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching: 29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
