1And Jesus entered and was passing through Jericho. 2And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the tax gatherers, and he was rich. 3And he sought to see who Jesus was; but could not because of the crowd, for he was of small stature. 4And he ran ahead, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must stay at your house. 6And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner. 8And Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any man of anything, I will repay it fourfold. 9And Jesus said to him, This day salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. 11And while they listened to these things, he told a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God would immediately appear. 12Therefore he said, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and then to return. 13And he called his ten servants, and gave them ten minas, and said to them, Trade with these until I come. 14But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We do not want this man to reign over us. 15And it came to pass, that when he returned, having received the kingdom, that he commanded the servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16The first came, saying, Lord, your mina has gained ten minas. 17And he said to him, Well done, you good servant: because you have been faithful in a very little, take authority over ten cities. 18And the second came, saying, Lord, your mina has gained five minas. 19And he said likewise to him, You shall be in authority over five cities. 20And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your mina, which I have kept laid up in a handkerchief: 21For I feared you, because you are a severe man: you take up what you have not laid down, and reap what you did not sow. 22And he said to him, Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was a severe man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow: 23Why then did you not put my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest? 24And he said to those who stood by, Take from him the mina, and give it to him who has ten minas. 25And they said to him, Lord, he already has ten minas. 26I say to you, To everyone who has shall more be given; and from him who has not, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 27As for my enemies, those who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here, and kill them in front of me. 28And when he had spoken these things, he went on ahead, ascending to Jerusalem. 29And it came to pass, when he had come near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples, 30Saying, Go into the village opposite you; and as you enter it you shall find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat: untie it, and bring it here. 31And if anyone asks you, Why are you untying it? you shall say, Because the Lord has need of it. 32And those who were sent went their way, and found it as he had said. 33And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, Why are you untying the colt? 34And they said, The Lord has need of it. 35And they brought it to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they put Jesus on it. 36And as he went, they spread their clothes on the road. 37And as he was coming near, at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38Saying, Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39And some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples. 40And he answered and said to them, I tell you that if they should hold their peace, the very stones would cry out. 41And when he had come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, 42Saying, If you, even you, had only known on this day, the things which make for peace! but now they are hidden from your eyes. 43For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies shall build an embankment about you, and surround you, and keep you in on every side, 44And shall level you to the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you did not know the time of your visitation. 45And he went into the temple, and began to cast out those who were selling; 46Saying to them, It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer: but you have made it a den of thieves. 47And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the leaders of the people sought to destroy him, 48But could not find what they might do: for all the people hung upon his words.
