1Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our profession; 2Who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. 3For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, just as he who has built the house has more honour than the house. 4For every house has been built by someone; but he who is the builder of all things is God. 5And Moses was faithful in all his house, as a servant, as a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; 6But Christ was faithful as a son over his own house, whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and our joyful hope. 7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, Today if you hear his voice, 8Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness: 9When your fathers tested me, tried me, and saw my works for forty years. 10Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said, They always go astray in their hearts; and they have not known my ways. 11So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter my rest. 12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, leading you to turn away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold our first confidence steadfast to the end; 15While it is said, Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion. 16For who were those who rebelled when they had heard? was it not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17And with whom was he angry for forty years? was it not with those who had sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom did he swear that they should not enter his rest, but to those who disobeyed? 19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
