1O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been publicly portrayed as crucified? 2This one thing I would learn from you, Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith? 3Are you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? 4Have you suffered so many things in vain? if it really was in vain. 5He who provides to you the Spirit, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith? 6Thus Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. 7Therefore, understand that those who are of faith are the children of Abraham. 8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, In you shall all nations be blessed. 9So then, those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the man of faith. 10For all who depend on the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do all things which are written in the book of the law. 11But it is evident that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, for: The just shall live by faith. 12But the law does not rest on faith: rather, The man who does these things shall live by them. 13Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having been made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one who hangs on a tree. 14He redeemed us so that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it is ratified, no man annuls or adds to it. 16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He does not say, And to seeds, as to many; but to one, And to your seed, which is Christ. 17And this is what I mean, that the law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant which was previously ratified by God, and thus make the promise void. 18For if the inheritance is based on the law, then it is no longer based on a promise: but God gave it to Abraham by a promise. 19Then what purpose does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, until the seed should come to whom the promise was made. It was ordained by angels through the hand of a mediator. 20Now a mediator is not for one party only, but God is one. 21Is the law then against the promises of God? Absolutely not: for if there had been a law given which could impart life, then righteousness truly would have been through the law. 22But the scripture has declared all to be prisoners of sin, so that the promise, given on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. 23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up until faith should be revealed. 24Therefore, the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26For you are all sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
