1I solemnly charge you before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all patience and instruction. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall gather up teachers for themselves to suit their own desires; 4And they shall turn their ears away from the truth, and shall turn aside to myths. 5But you, be steady in all things; endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 6For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me on that day: and not only to me, but also to all those who have longed for his appearing. 9Make every effort to come to me shortly: 10For Demas, having loved this present world, has forsaken me and has departed to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. 11Only Luke is with me. Get Mark, and bring him with you: for he is useful to me for the ministry. 12Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. 13When you come, bring with you the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, and especially the parchments. 14Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm: the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. 15You also beware of him; for he has greatly opposed our message. 16At my first defence no man stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be counted against them. 17But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. 18And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom: to him be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 19Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20Erastus remained at Corinth: but Trophimus I left sick at Miletus. 21Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as do Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren. 22The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.
