1 Save me, O God; for the waters 2I am sunk in depths of mire, 3I am weary of crying, my throat is parched, 4More than the hairs of my head 5O God, you know my folly, 6Through me let not any be shamed, 7It’s in your cause that I have borne taunts, 8I became to my kindred a foreigner, 9It was zeal for your house that consumed me, 10When I chastened myself with fasting, 11When I put on a garment of sackcloth, 12Those who sit in the gate make sport of me 13But I pray to you, LORD, 14from sinking down in the mire. 15that the rushing flood may not drown me, 16Answer me, LORD, in your gracious kindness, 17Hide not your face from your servant, 18Draw near to me, redeem me; 19You know how I am insulted; 20Insult has broken my heart, 21Poison they gave me for food, 22May their table, outspread, be a trap to them, 23May their eyes be darkened and blind, 24Pour your indignation upon them, 25May their camp be a desolation, 26For those whom you struck, they persecute, 27Charge them with sin upon sin, 28From the book of life be they blotted, 29Lift me, O God, by your help 30Then will I praise God in song 31which shall please the LORD better than ox, 32The oppressed shall rejoice at the sight. 33For the LORD listens to the poor, 34Let the heavens and the earth sing his praises, 35For God will bring help to Zion, 36His servants’ children shall have it for heritage,
