Listen, God, to my prayer.
Hear me, and answer;
I am wild with the noise of the foe,
My heart shudders within me,
fear and trembling attack me,
O for the wings of a dove:
I would wander far away,
I would find myself a shelter
Confuse them, LORD, upset their plans;
By day and by night they make their rounds
within is ruin.
The taunts were not those of a foe
but it was you, my equal,
We used to be so close,
May death suddenly take them,
But I will call on God,
Evening and morning and noon
though I am attacked by many
God, who sits on his ancient throne
My friend turned against me,
His mouth was smoother than butter,
Cast your burden on the LORD,
But you, God, will hurl them down
