1 Give thanks to the LORD for his goodness 2Let this be the song of the ransomed, 3gathering them from all lands, 4In the wastes of the desert some wandered, 5Full of hunger and thirst, 6Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, 7guiding them straight on the way, 8Let them thank the LORD for his kindness, 9for the thirsty he satisfies, 10Some sat in darkness and gloom 11for rebelling against God’s word, 12Their heart was bowed with toil; 13Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, 14Out of darkness and gloom he brought them, 15Let them praise the LORD for his kindness, 16For he shattered the gates of bronze, 17Some were sick from their wicked ways, 18All manner of food they hated; 19Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, 20He sent his word and healed them, 21Let them praise the LORD for his kindness, 22Let them offer to him thankofferings, 23Some crossed the sea in ships, 24They have seen what the LORD can do, 25At his command rose a tempest, 26Up to heaven they went, down to the depths; 27They staggered and reeled like drunkards; 28Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, 29He stilled the storm to a whisper, 30They were glad, because it was quiet; 31Let them praise the LORD, for his kindness, 32Where the people assemble, extol him, 33He turns streams into a wilderness, 34fruitful land into a salt waste, 35A desert he makes pools of water, 36He settles the hungry therein, 37They sow fields and plant vineyards, 38By his blessing they multiply greatly, 39Yet when they are bowed and diminished 40he pours contempt upon princes, 41He lifts the poor out of misery, 42At this sight shall the upright be glad, 43Let those who are wise observe this,
