1And I saw, at the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book, which was written within and on the back side, and which was sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a strong angel, who proclaimed with a loud voice, Who is competent to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3And no one either in heaven above, or on the earth, or beneath the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon. 4And I wept much, because no one was found, who was competent to open the book, or to look on it. 5And one of the Elders said to me, Weep not; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath been victorious: He will open the book, and its seven seals. 6And I looked, and in the midst of the Elders stood a lamb, as if slain; and it had seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God that are sent into all the earth. 7And he came, and took the book from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8And when he took the book, the four Animals and the twenty and four Elders fell down before the Lamb, each of them having a harp, and cups of gold full of odors, which are the supplications of the saints. 9And they sung a new anthem, saying: Competent art thou, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10and thou hast made them kings and priests to our God; and they reign on the earth. 11And I looked, and I heard, as it were the voice of many angels, around the throne, and the Animals and the Elders; and the number of them was a myriad of myriads, and thousand of thousands, 12who said, with a loud voice; Competent is the Lamb that was slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing; 13and to be over every created thing, that is in heaven, or on earth, or under the earth, or in the sea; and all that are in them. And I heard him who sat on the throne say: Unto the Lamb be given, blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, for ever and ever. 14And the four Animals said: Amen. And the Elders fell down, and adored.
