1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world: the one following me can not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of the life. 13Then the Pharisees said to Him, Thou art testifying concerning thyself; Thy testimony is not true. And Jesus responded and said to them, 14If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is true; for I know whence I came, and whither I go. You know not whence I come, or whither I go. 15You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16If I judge, my judgment is true; because I am not alone, but I and the One having sent me. 17And it has been written in our law, that the testimony of two men is true. 18I am the one testifying concerning myself, and the Father having sent me, testifies concerning me. 19Then they said to Him, Where is thy Father? Jesus responded; You know neither me nor my Father; if you knew me, you would also know my Father. 20He spoke these words in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no one arrested Him; because His hour had not yet come. 21Then He again said to them, I go away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin: whither I go you are not able to come. 22Then the Jews were saying, Whether will He kill Himself, because He says, Whither I go away, you are not able to come? 23And He said to them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world. 24Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you may not believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins. 25Then they said to Him, Who art thou? And Jesus said to them, Even that which I also speak to you from the beginning. 26I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you; but the One having sent me is true; those things which I heard with Him, these I speak to the world. 27They did not know that He spoke to them concerning the Father. 28Then Jesus said, When you may lift up the Son of man, then you shall know that I am He, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father has taught me, I speak the same things. 29Truly the One having sent me is with me; He has not left me alone; because I always do those things which are pleasing to Him. 30He speaking these things, many believed on Him. 31Then Jesus said to the Jews, who believed on Him, If you may abide in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33They responded to Him, we are the seed of Abraham, and have never been in bondage to any one: How do You say, that you shall be free? 34Jesus responded to them, Truly, truly, I say unto you, That every one doing sin is the slave of sin. 35But the slave abides not in the house forever; the Son abides forever. 36If therefore the Son may make you free, you shall be free indeed. 37I know ye are the seed of Abraham; but you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you. 38Whatsoever I have seen with the Father I speak: you therefore are doing the things which you heard with your father. 39They responded and said to Him, Abraham is our Father. Jesus says to them, If you were the children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham. 40But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard with God: Abraham did not this. 41You are doing the works of your father. They said to Him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, God. 42Jesus said to them; If God were your Father, you would love me: for I came out from God, and I return; for I have not spoken from myself, but He sent me. 43Wherefore do you not understand my speech? Because you are not able to hear my word. 44You are of your father the devil, and you wish to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stood not in the truth, because there was no truth in him. When he may speak a lie, he speaks of his own: because he is a liar, and the father of the same. 45And because I speak the truth, you do not believe me. 46Which one of you convicts me concerning sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me? 47The one being of God hears the words of God: on account of this you do not hear, because you are not of God. 48The Jews responded and said to Him, Do we not truly say that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon? 49Jesus responded, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50But I do not seek my own glory: there is One seeking and judging. 51Truly, truly, I say unto you, if any one may keep my word, he may never see death. 52The Jews said to Him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham and the prophets are dead; and thou sayest, If any one may keep my word, he may never taste death. 53Whether art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died: whom do you make yourself? 54Jesus responded, If I may glorify myself, my glory is nothing: my Father is the one glorifying me; whom you say, that, He is our God; 55indeed you do not know Him: but I know Him. If I may say, I know Him not, I will be a liar like you: but I know Him, and I keep His word. 56Abraham, our father, rejoiced that he might see my day; he saw it, and was glad. 57Then the Jews said to Him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham? 58Jesus said unto them, Truly, truly, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59Then they took up stones that they might cast at Him: and Jesus was hidden, and departed out from the temple.
